Mr Vilipo Munthali - Chairman - Age 49

Mr. Munthali is a seasoned chartered accountant. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from the University of Malawi and MBA (Management College of Southern Africa), Gaborone, Botswana. He is a Fellow, Chartered Professional Accountant- FCPA, Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA), he is a Member, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi, he is a Fellow, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants - FCCA and a Member, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants – ACCA. He is the Managing Consultant at Swift Resources. He has previously held the position of Chief Finance Officer for First Capital Bank plc both in Malawi and Botswana. He has over 20 years’ experience in the banking sector. He joined the Board in September 2020.

Mr Gladson Kuyeri - Age 52

Mr Gladson Kuyeri is a Fellow and Chartered Marketer with a background in electronic Payment Systems, Telecoms and Retail Management. He holds a Master of Communications Management from the University of Strathclyde, UK and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Malawi. He is the current Chief Commercial Officer at Malawi Telecommunications Limited. He has held various senior positions in Business Development with Malawi Switch Centre Limited and Telekom Networks Malawi Limited. He has been on the Board since 2017.

Mrs Maureen Kachingwe - Age 56

Mrs Maureen Kachingwe is a legal practitioner with an LLB (Hons) from the University of Malawi and MBA from the University of Hull (UK). She is the current Company Secretary for Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc since 2017. Before joining Illovo, Mrs Kachingwe served as Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs as well as company secretary for Sunbird Tourism plc for a total of 23 years. She is specialized in corporate governance, Human Resource Management, Procurement and corporate finance.  She joined the Board in September 2020.

Ms Moureen Mbeye - Age 41

Ms Mbeye is the Acting Financial Controller for Press Corporation plc. She holds Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Malawi, she is a Fellow, Chartered Certified Accountant and a Certified Public Accountant. She has previously worked as a senior auditor at KCC Finance Associates and Peter Holdsworth & Company. She has vast experience of over 15 years, in audit and assurance and sits in a number of boards. She joined the Board in April 2022.

Dr Bernadette Malunga - Age 41

Dr Malunga holds a PhD in Law from the University of Nairobi, School of Law, Kenya, obtained in 2018. She also holds a Masters in Women’s Law as well as an LLB (Hons) obtained from Chancellor College, University of Malawi. She is currently a lecturer in law at the Chancellor College having previously served as a Resident Magistrate and State Advocate in the Ministry of Justice. She has about 15 years of post-graduate experience in legal research focusing on women, gender and economic rights. She joined the Board in September 2020.

Mr Cornelius Majawa - Age 52

Mr Majawa is a seasoned chartered accountant. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from the University of Malawi and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Management from the University of Derby, UK. He has vast experience in microfinance and has served in various boards including the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF). He is an established consultant on microfinance. He joined the Board in March 2021.

Mr Chancy Simwaka - Age 56

Mr. Simwaka is the current Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism. He has previously served as Secretary to Treasury in the Ministry of Finance Economic Planning and Development. Mr Simwaka has also served the Government of Malawi in various senior capacities. He joined the Board in September 2020.

Dr McDonald Mafuta Mwale - Age 52

Dr McDonald Mafuta Mwale is the current Secretary to Treasury in the Ministry of Finance Economic Planning and Development. Dr Mwale. Before the current position he was the Director for Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development and has previously on various World Bank projects whilst at the Reserve Bank of Malawi. Dr Mwale holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Economics and Econometrics from Nottingham University in England. He is also a holder of a PhD in Economics from Aberdeen University in Scotland. He is also an undergraduate from Chancellor College of the University of Malawi where he graduated with First Degree in Social Sciences majoring in Economics. He joined the Board in February 2022.
