Sports & Recreation
Day excursions can be arranged to Zomba (the mother capital of Malawi). Thyolo Tea Estates, Mulanje mountain — the tallest mountain in central Africa, along with tours to Lake malawi or Liwonde National Park along the Shire river. The bird and wildlife is great.
This Park runs along the Shire River — the only river to drain enormous Lake Malawi. In the dry season when the elephant, hippo, crocodile and many antelope such as Sable, Waterbuck and Impala, stay close to the only water supply, riverside game viewing is a terrific experience. Bird life here is prolific. More than 400 species of birds have been spotted along the river bank.
In the immediate environs are the shopping areas where a variety of traditional arts and crafts depicting Malawian life and culture are sold only a three minute walk from the hotel.
Art galleries such as Central Africana’s Livingstone Gallery on Kidney Crescent and La Caverna at Mandala have the broadest range of quality arts and crafts, carvings, books and paintings and indeed anything the visitor might want as a souvenir or memento of Malawi.
