Redevelopment and Expansion Plans
We pride ourselves in keeping up to date with global standards. At the end of July 2011, we concluded a US $10 million project to upgrade the bedrooms at our two flagship hotels, Sunbird Capital in Lilongwe and Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre. This has been extremely well received by Sunbird Malawi’s loyal guests. Furthermore, we are currently building a fashionable new restaurant and lounge bar at Sunbird Mount Soche at a cost of US $750,000, due to open in October 2011. This promises to be a real ‘winner’ for resident guests and local public alike, and it is likely that a similar project will start in the near future to provide the same at Sunbird Capital.
Our Lakeshore International Conference Centre at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge, a state-of-the-art facility, was completed at the end of July 2011 and is already attracting conferences from other southern African countries.
It is therefore fair to say that Sunbird Malawi sees itself as the country’s driving force in providing world-class facilities in Malawi’s leisure and business tourism sector.
